SARTI-UPC researchers take part in a maritime career orientation event
Researchers from the SARTI research group at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya participated in a career-orientation event organized by Institut Lluch i Rafecas, aimed at bringing vocational training students closer to the professional reality of the maritime sector.
During the session, predoctoral researchers Pol Baños, Carlos de la Vega, and Roger Martínez presented the group’s main research and technological development activities, focusing on marine environmental monitoring, underwater observatories, marine robotics, and environmental data analysis. Their presentation highlighted the key role of technological innovation in improving the understanding and protection of marine ecosystems.
Through real project examples and references to scientific infrastructures such as the OBSEA underwater observatory, students gained first-hand insight into how applied research contributes to the development of the blue economy and creates new career opportunities in areas such as ocean instrumentation, artificial intelligence applied to marine environments, and underwater vehicle operations.
SARTI’s participation in this initiative reflects its strong commitment to science outreach, knowledge transfer, and the promotion of marine-related technological careers.
