On December 19, 2020, a dead dolphin was found on the beach of s'Abanell (Blanes, Girona, Catalunya) (news link). The fall of big mammals or turtles is a natural process poorly studied that is occuring in the ocean. For this reason a tripod camera will focus on a dolphin’s carcass to determine if there are spatial and temporal changes in the local community, as observed for whale carcasses in the deep sea. The tripod camera will collect images every 30 min. during one-year period (from 23 December 2020 to 23 December 2021). This time-lapse image acquisition will be accompanied by environmental data collection (i.e. temperature and salinity by CTD, current speed and direction by ADCP, chlorophyll concentration by fluorometer and turbidity).
